They don't put any of their recent moves to a vote.<br /><br />Berlusconi was elected by the voters in Italy. He did a terrible job, but they kept re-electing him. Monti, the economist technocrat who replaced him, was put into power by the European Union, the ECB, and the Germans. Monti has never been elected, and he said that he would resign before elections take place. But Monti has done a fantastic job of managing the economy and even standing up to Merkel and the Germans in the media on behalf of Italy against austerity. <br /><br />Maybe the US could use some sort of intelligent leader who might not be able to win votes but who could actually govern properly. That being said, I guess our system of choosing the least objectionable leader between two con men with stepford wives is the best we can hope for.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
